The sub high pressure and sub high temperature biomass-fired boilers went into production (combined heating, power and cooling project of dehydrated vegetable industrial park, Chengdong Town, Taizhou City, Xinghua City, Jiangsu Province), which marked the successful application of multi-pass circulating fluidized bed technology in the field of biomass power generation.

The first circulating fluidized bed heat conduction oil furnace (Dalian Alice 4.2MW heat conduction oil furnace) was launched, which was the first successfully operated furnace in China. It realized the energy saving and consumption reduction of heat conduction oil furnace, and filled a blank of heat conduction oil furnace technology in China.

The first sub high pressure and sub high temperature boiler (35t/h boiler of Shandong Jiahao Chemical Company) went into production, which verified the feasibility of multi-pass circulating fluidized bed boiler technology in the application of power generation.

The energy utilization of tobacco stem, tobacco powder and other wastes in tobacco redrying industry was research, and then the first multi-pass circulating fluidized bed boiler using tobacco stem as fuel went into operation (15t/h boiler of Chenzhou Redrying Plant of Hunan Tobacco Redrying Company), which was original in the world. It won the prize of "Comprehensive Utilization of Resources" of Hunan Economic and Information Commission and the first prize of “Science and Technology Progress Award” of Hunan Tobacco Company.

The first multi-pass circulating fluidized bed steam boiler (15t/h of Nankang Non-ferrous Metal Company) went into production, which verified the feasibility of multi-pass circulating fluidized bed technology in steam boiler.

According to the current operation status of industrial boilers, the research on the characteristics of different low-quality fuels was carried out. A series of theoretical research, testing and experiment of multi-pass circulating fluidized bed combustion were carried out, and preliminary scientific research results were obtained.

On the basis of the Resource and Environment Group of the Department of Energy and Power Engineering of Tsinghua University, the research and development direction of the multi-pass circulating fluidized bed project was set up, the members and responsibilities of the project team were determined, and the research and development plan and relevant assessment system were formulated.
